Editing, Team Building and Leadership
Reflection:
Leadership is not just about holding a title; it's about positively impacting those around you.
In my various roles, I've learned that effective leadership means prioritizing the team's needs, fostering collaboration and leading by example. Through experiences like leading the BPA Broadcast Production team at Frisco High and spearheading initiatives at Frisco Sports Network (FSN), I've honed my leadership skills and cultivated an environment of growth.
Leadership:
Leadership isn't defined by titles but by actions that inspire and empower others. I led and put together the Business Professionals of America (BPA) Broadcast Production team, which placed fifth at regionals above, started initiatives at FSN like the clip assignment sheet above, and ran the camera operations for my school's inaugural TEDx event by obtaining six different cameras and cam operators for all of them through my connections within FSN. I've embraced the responsibility of guiding and motivating my peers toward shared goals. By prioritizing effective communication, fostering collaboration and leading by example, I've cultivated an environment where creativity flourishes and individuals thrive.

Editing:
Package/Show Scripts
The editing process for package and show scripts is a testament to the power of collaboration and resilience. As a leader in FSN, I've encountered challenges like script approval and technical malfunctions, yet these experiences have reinforced the importance of adaptability and effective communication. By fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving, our team has navigated obstacles and delivered impactful content that resonates with our audience. A screenshot is presented below of some of the editing process of the BPA video. These scripts for packages and pre-game/halftime shows can be pretty lengthy, as seen below:
Editing isn't just about refining content; it's about infusing stories with depth and resonance. From my time at FSN and BPA, I've learned that editing is a meticulous process that demands attention to detail and a keen understanding of storytelling principles. Collaborating with industry professionals like Nick Harris, Kyle Youmans and Brian Higgins, as well as my newspaper teacher Karla Romero, has broadened my perspective on editing, emphasizing the importance of clarity, coherence, and emotional impact in every piece. Below are some edits suggested to me by Brian Higgins that led to me winning an award for this Wakeland package that he gave me feedback on. Team Building Traditions:
At FSN, our team-building tradition embodies the spirit of unity and preparation. By arriving early to events and engaging in pre-game debriefing sessions, we enhance our collective performance, strengthen bonds, and foster a sense of camaraderie. This tradition emphasizes the importance of collaboration and mutual support in achieving our objectives, highlighting the power of teamwork in navigating challenges and seizing opportunities. Just some of the opportunities we were able to go to include: The Dallas Mavs Womens Classic tournament, the FSN pregame show at Toyota Stadium, the pregame show on the Ford Center Field and going to the FISD Broadcast Competition, where we won some awards as a club, with one my stories taking home some hardware at the event.
